This piece of jewelry was made from wampum, the beautiful deep purple shell which forms on the inside of the quahog, or Western North Atlantic hard-shelled clam shell. A favorite among Martha's Vineyard locals, wampum jewelry has been known to show style, pride, and class. Littlest Fish Designs is a modern interpretation of a classic historical accessory that's always on trend and appropriate for any and all who wear it. Wampum was originally used as gift exchange and for trading goods by the Wampanoags, the native people of Martha's Vineyard. Its history is as rich as its beautiful deep purple coloring. Your pendant is made out of natural materials so no two pieces are the same. Unique and beautiful just like the wearer.
Stud ear posts are surgical steel
*All earrings will vary in shape and size.
This piece is delicate and should be treated kindly, please refrain from wearing your Littlest Fish Designs piece in the shower, the ocean, or to bed. Wampum is fragile and will break if pressure is applied. If your wampum starts to dry out and dull, carefully rub a drop of olive oil onto your pendant and wipe off excess with a paper towel.
